NEXT CHAPTER CAFE

Experience Handcrafted Pastries, Filipino Cuisine, Artisan Sandwiches and Local Organic Coffee

OUR STORY

At Next Chapter Cafe we strive to offer delicious and unique food and beverage, paired with exemplary customer service and a beautiful view.

Co-owners Jennifer and Bryan are a husband and wife Chef and Pastry Chef duo, serving up unique and classic pastry creations, as well as Filipino dishes to comfort the soul.

After meeting in 2017 the two continued building their careers while building a life with one another.

Chef Jennifer began in a quaint coffee shop down at Squalicum Harbor in 2018, called America's Cup Coffee Shop, growing and transforming the business into a year round brick and mortar bakery called it's The Sweet Things in downtown Bellingham.

Chef Bry began as a Bellingham Farmers Market vendor in 2019 with Bry's Filipino Cuisine, transitioning into a brick and mortar restaurant in the iconic Herald Building in downtown Bellingham, offering a full menu and full bar to come and enjoy his culinary gems as an entire dining experience.

They joined their culinary and pastry worlds into this beautiful Fairhaven location, encouraging the South Bellingham community to join in their Next Chapter.

Tucked inside the iconic Village Books and Paper Dreams, located in the Historic Fairhaven district of Bellingham, this unique space is such a delight.

WHY US

Quality Ingredients

Fresh and Locally Sourced

We prioritize using the freshest ingredients, and working with other local businesses to bring a little magic to our menu.

Whether it be the delicious locally roasted coffee from Fidalgo Coffee roasters, amazing mushroom sage oil and truffle salt from Drizzle that we roast our breakfast potatoes in, lavender simple syrup from Laurel Lavender Farms that we use in our house specialty vanilla lavender latte, or the amazing focaccia made by local Guerilla Kitchen and Bakery that we use on many of our sandwiches, we love the opportunity to make our offerings that much more special, by collaborating with other amazing vendors in our community.

Not only do you get to experience the magic of It's The Sweet Things bakery and Bry's Filipino Cuisine under the same roof, we look forward to you enjoying so many other menu items created by Chef Jen and Chef Bry just for Next Chapter Cafe!

A Commitment to Our Community

Being a Whatcom County Business means being a part of a community that we cherish and love to serve

Over the years we have been blessed with the opportunity to grow and flourish, doing what we love, and bringing it to the community.

This also means that we take pride in giving back wherever we can, supporting the important work so many of our local non-profits do, and collaborating with other community members on projects, events, and even some of our exciting menu items.

TESTIMONIALS

Bellingham local favorites Bry’s Filipino Cuisine and It’s the Sweet Things in a bookshop, what isn’t to love? The food was top notch, I had this week’s special - pork adobo - which is a staple at Bry’s. Highly, highly recommend seeking it out if it’s not here when you visit. I also enjoyed the Belgian dark chocolate croissant, it is absolutely delectable. There was a small pastry case with other rotating favorites, a robust coffee and tea menu, sandwiches, salads, vegan and vegetarian options too.

I’ve not yet been to either parent location, but I love having access to this joint venture. The coffee was perfect (almond mocha) and the Cookies and Cream Cheesecake was to die for - it might be the yummiest treat I’ve had since moving to Bellingham, and that’s a high bar. Excited to try to the meal items next, and happy to have a cafe back in the Village Books space!

What a wonderful addition to Village Books! Came in early morning, when they first opened. Had a fantastic coffee, prepared by the loveliest staff. They’ve done a nice revamp of the dining space, and have a broad array of delicious-looking pastries from It’s the Sweet Things bakery. Their lunch menu looks outstanding—will definitely be back to try it. A new gem in Fairhaven!
